The book for sale on eBay is not one of the Hite "Melodious and Progressive
Studies" (which is what several list members have recently recommended).
Hite's books are published by Southern Music Company. They include some
very pleasant studies by Demnitz, Nocetini and Baermann (Book I) and
Gambaro and Dont (Book II). They sell for under $10 each according to the
Luyben catalog (no CD). According to the editor, they are appropriate for
someone who has completed a beginning clarinet method (and, I'm pretty sure
are at a higher level than the book on eBay which appears to be for
beginners). IMHO, both the Hite books are first rate.

Jack is correct, the Progressive book is a beginner book, and it is not a
very good one at that (I have it in my collection). I did a detailed review
for David Hite on his books in the OCR back in 1996. Here is the link
