I have a story to tell that was told to me by my band
director.

There was a person who never cleanded her reed and at one
point had been eating before she played.
She had left her horn in the band room over vacation and
when she came back and played on her horn, without ever
changing the reed, she put it together and played it....for
all of about 2 seconds, she came out of the bandroom
screeming. It seemed that maggots had grown in her
mouthpiece over break and crawled into her mouth while
playing...
what a stomache turner...

And then to top it off, my stand mate had this habbit of
chewing gum before she played. One day she ended up with
ants in her mouth, red ants...
there is a couple of motivational stories that I tell when
a student doesn't clean their reeds or mouthpieces. I know
they are gross but it works!!
