Much has been said lately about the use of Bb register tubes on the
R-13 A clarinet. If this tube combination is so acoustically, great why
doesn't the factory install them as a standard feature on all of the new
Buffets?
Let's cut to the chase! If anyone can show me an original R-13 A
clarinet and 65mm barrel that has been fitted with a standard Bb register
vent tube that meets the following criteria, I will give them a $50 Reed
knife from my new Moennig Products Catalog FREE!
1. The Left hand notes must have true register intervals. For
example the High
A, B, and C cannot be sharp in relation to the lower 12th D, E,
and F.
2. The Left hand D, E, and F cannot be flat in relationship to the
HIGH A, B, and C.
3. The throat Bb cannot be stuffy.
4. The full B must be in tune with other surrounding notes.
5. Please use standard fingerings for this pitch test.
Hans Moennig struggled with the wide 12th dilemma for over 60 years.
And it took a lot more effort than substituting a Bb vent to resolve the
problem.
Good Luck!

<< Hi,
I would be very interested to know what is the differences on the Moenning
register tube and of course why those are "Better" than others. I do switch
the A register tube by the Bb and so far this work fine you have to do other
little adjustment and work to make it work with the setup the musician
plays.
I do not know any magic tube that will solve all the problem you may have
but
again there is no unique solution to every problem players are playing
different set up and no one has the same embouchure of course so what will
work for one will not specialy work for others. The bottom line is that any
accoustical work or changes should be done with the player since it is the
player that will use the instrument after.
