Hi Anne,

One of my favorite pieces for this combination is Andrew Charlton's "Caprice." IMHO it is aptly titled (though he could have called it "Fantasy Waltz" and I wouldn't have quarreled with him) and not too difficult (for the clarinet, anyway). It reminds me of the theme music from the movie "Charade." Widely available -- certainly either from
Eble or Luyben's. Recorded by Diane Lang Bryan on a Protone LP. Charlton is probably better known to recorder players.

For something more challenging, you might try either "Blue Third Pieces" or "Three Pieces for Treble Wind and Guitar" by Libby Larsen. Recorded by Caroline Hartig on her CD of Larsen's pieces for clarinet, "Dancing Solo." Scores are available from the composer at:

There is a recording of the Neumann, "Serenades" (Bayer BR 100 280) with Luigi Magistrelli. According to the liner notes, "The only available and not so easy to get edition of these serenades is the 'Andre' edition of which we don't have the date of publication." MIght be in the ICA library. (I don't have a catalog yet. ;^( )

The Luben catalog lists a few other pieces, including a couple of Debussy works arranged by Almeida ("Danse" and "First Arabesque") that are probably worth looking into.

Finally, if all else fails, you might consider looking at the literature for flute and guitar.
