I also like Valentino pads, although I know nothing of the green back ones.

To comment on the statement below that repairmen don't think much of
Valentino products, may I say that there's nothing surprising about that.
Valentino pads make it easy for otherwise non-repairmen to change pads,
tenon joint corks, bumper corks, etc., without a whole lot of tools,
experience, etc. I'm sure that repairmen have lost some work to band
directors and to individuals who just decided to do it themselves. For a
band director, they are a godsend. I always repaired my own instruments and
my student's instruments, (unless I didn't have the tools for the job), but
now that Valentino products are available, it's so much easier! And, I find
that the pads seal very well and last quite a while. They seem to darken to
tone a little, which is fine by me! My only complaint is that he doesn't
offer a full line of pad sizes and thicknesses, but he's adding to his
offerings all the time! I, for one, hope he continues this good work!

I heard from a local tech that Valentino's were not so hot. Not trying to
start a flame war!
