Eye glasses

Being an orchestral musician involved having special glasses for
orchestral playing.

My ordinary glasses were bifocals.
I then had to get another pair for practicing at home.
This was a pair that was halfway between the reading and distance
glasses.
For orchestra I had a pair made that the bottom was music reading
glasses and the very top were distance glasses. Bifocals in reverse,
except that the distance one was a narrow width. That's how much I
allotted to the conductor.
It was advisable not just to see a blur, or close to it. You really had
to see the conductor's facial expression also.
