To Clarinetists who have participated in the Reed Knife discussion:

I've enjoyed the comments about use of knife - vs - other reed-adjusting
methods. If you want a really outstanding folding knife, perfect for
clarinet reeds and at a really cheap price, contact the Jones Double Reed
Company, 303 E Pacific Ave., Spokane, WA 99202. Unlike many other
folding knives, their knife has a straight, rather than curved edge,
enabling one to use it very effectively on the back side of the reed for
flattening, etc. I, too, have been frustrated not to become more adept at
working on the "vamp" with the knife, but have found several players who
share my enthusiasm for using it on the back of the reed - especially
during early break-in.
