I recently purchased a new Festival model A clainet to replace my twelve year
old R-13 ( I think I finally blew it out). I found it's scale and eveness
superior to other new R-13's that I had recently tried. After playing about
15 horns, I purchased the Festival. When I returned to work and started
using the instrument in the hall, I found myself still making pitch
corrections for my R-13, and switching between this horn and my R-13 B-flat,
feels dramatically different to me. I like the sound of the instrument but
I'm having also having projection problems with it. I find myself
overblowing for volume. I don't like the barrels that came with it and I'm
using a Chadash on it but recently tried a Moennig that helped a bit. The
instrument is still just factory ready, so I'm sending it off to get
overhauled and I'm hoping that it will free up. Has anyone purchased this
intrument that is having a similar problems? Does anyone know the difference
in bores between this model and the R-13?

TIA
