Does anybody collect vintage reeds?

Somebody has offered me some (most likely) pre 1930 reeds.
Should I be curious? Did comparable strength reeds used to sound
different?

How long do you suppose a disease virus or bacteria might lurk in an old
clarinet, mouthpiece, or reed? (I'd ask about diaphrams, but I wouldn't
voluntarily reinflate that topic.)
