What I meant is that if you are scared about cutting your fingers or are
just to nervous to use it, then I think it would be better to leave it
alone. No I was not perfect either when first using the knife but continuous
use of it made me better. I think someone mentioned that they practiced on
old reeds. Do what ever it takes to build your skill with the knife.
