This is not at all surprising. What you or I might consider an unimportant
difference in weight might be very noticeable and unpleasant to a child.
Neither of my daughters cared for my Leblanc Symphonie II strictly due to
the weight (they both liked the way it played). The instrument that each
learned on was an old Pruefer Artist model wooden horn but it was
substantially lighter than my horn. The difference was in the wall
thickness of the wood. The Pruefer was a thin wall construction while my
Leblanc is quite thick.
