Klarinet Archive - Posting 000611.txt from 1999/04
From: LeliaLoban@-----.com Subj: [kl] Caracas Clarinet Quartet in Washington D.C. Date: Tue, 13 Apr 1999 10:40:34 -0400
Many thanks to David B. Niethamer for the interesting write-up about this
recital, and for taking the trouble to go into detail. I wanted very much to
attend, after reading a preview in the _Washington Post_, but couldn't make
it. The _Post_ reporter mentioned the use of clarinets as percussion
instruments, something that hadn't occurred to me before. We've had quite a
week of percussion locally, with the National Symphony Orchestra's
presentation of a special rhythm festival featuring Evelyn Glennie, and now
clarinets as rhythm instruments, of all things.
