Stage fright can indeed be debilitating. I don't know how many
opera-lovers are out in KlarinetLand, but the career of the great tenor
Franco Corelli is a case study in the effects of stage fright on what
should have been a much longer career. Corelli suffered absolute terrors.
I once saw him backstage before Act III of "Tosca," and the man was white
as the proverbial sheet. He was legendary for his stage fright.

As for Valerian root...again, beware. If [generic] you are taking a
prescription med for depression and/or anxiety, Valerian root is also
dangerous...it does not work and play well with other meds, and can send
you (for no apparent reason) into major depressive or manic states. Don't
play mix-and-match with this stuff. One or the other, but NEVER both.
