Yes, you actually gargle! Bring a cup of water on stage and put it under
your chair where you can reach it quickly.

Also, our section decided that when it called for blowing on just the
mouthpiece, we'd take them off along with the barrels; the sound was a
little different (but not much). It was a lot less hassle putting the
instrument back together and not interfering with the reed/ligature,
especially if you play with it a little on the loose side.
