Subj: [kl] two totally unrelated questions

A couple of problems have been bugging me for awhile (number one for a
long time and number two for about a week) and I thought people on
this list might be able to help.

1) How do I get rid of performance nerves? I have a terrible problem
with this and it has really, really messed me up a couple of times.
People keep telling me to calm down. The question is: how? Does
anyone else have this problem? If so, what do you do to calm down so
it won't affect your performance?

2) In a song my high school band is playing ("Godzilla Eats Las Vegas"
by Eric Whitttacre (I probably spelled that wrong)) there is a
clarinet solo with a portamento in it. How do I do this? I asked my
clarinet teacher and she doesn't know. My band director doesn't know,
and none of the other clarinet players in band know.

Thanks in advance,
~Lauren~
