I don't think asking people to try and do simple things is too
demanding - which is why I add examples on how to do a simple thing when
I answer.

I _do_ understand that not everyone has access to the Internet
resources, or how to use them. In those cases a little preface relating
that fact is nice to see, otherwise I'm going to think the person is
just a little lazy - especially when I see a mail account that's only
available via a Web interface. If someone says something like "I tried
to find out <blah> but I can't figure out how to use Yahoo", then I'm
most likely to answer the person off-line and explain how to use Yahoo,
or Altavista, or Excite, or whatever.

However ...
I _do_ believe that the "ease" of getting answers has caused people to
be less apt to "engage their brain" when reading. What we (I) say on
this list "ain't necessarily so" and people shouldn't be believing it
outright - we all should try & find the background references and double
check, lest we be led astray.

I don't feel I was demanding in any case; I just said "It'd be nice" :^)
