The new Director of Bands at Duke is Kraig Williams. His previous position
was Director of Bands at Cal State University Los Angeles. He is an
excellent clarinet, flute and saxophone player, and one of the best
conductors at any university (I not only served as his principal clarinet for
several years, but I have also played with him in several orchestras).

He may be able to recommend someone to you. In addition--and assuming that
my geography is correct--the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is
within a reasonable distance.
