Klarinet Archive - Posting 000480.txt from 1999/04

While doing a paper for a Baroque
Music Class, the professor allowed
me to investigate VIVALDI's use
of the clarinet! There are 3 wonderful
little double concerti (for pairs of oboes
and clarinets). Check the Galpin Society
Journal 4 (1951): pp 39-41, and also
Journal 34 (1981): pp 21-32. The articles
are "The Earliest Collection of Clarinet
Music" and "A 3-Key Clarinet by J.C.
Denner." Interesting and fun info!
If you'd like to hear the pieces there
is a great CD (with Eric Hoeprick &
ANTHONY PAY!) by Christopher
Hogwood and the Academy of Ancient
Music (Decca Records).
Best of luck!
