I play double lip upon my teacher's recommendation. It definetely helps
in not +biting the mouthpiece. That was my problem. I got kind of used to
it, and now play it (or a pseudo-double lip) where my upper teeth does
not touch the mouthpiece. Try it - it hurts in the beginning. I wear a
plastic retainer (I had braces not too long ago) and I think double lip
works well with a retainer. Try reading up on the benefits of double lip
in Keith Stein's the Art of Clarinet Playing. My teacher recommended
this helpful guide for clarinet wanna bees. Good luck!
