I missed whatever prompted this, but I heartily disagree. My answer to the
question is "absolutely!" Even a beginner _4th_ grader sounds different
(and better) on a high-quality instrument/mouthpiece/reed combination than
on stock "student" equipment. Now, I've never experimented to find out if he
sounds better on an R13 or a 10G or an Opus....
