I have limited time at my disposal, but I would like to say that I think
we can all go for this.
It's easier to deal with what people say than to deal with who they are
in the electronic medium. I suppose the sort of interaction we have
here on some subjects -- the complex ones -- could be thought of as a
progressive clarification for ourselves, via what other people
contribute, of what each of us *wants to say*.
If we think that debate primarily consists of making sure that our
movement towards further understanding of a rather complex situation is
a rational movement, rather than thinking that it primarily consists of
a defence of the position we currently hold, we may do better.
'Asking the questions' is a good way of putting it, IMO.
Thank you for posting this, Roger.
