Kris: Funny you should ask! I just
received two in the mail today, a 3.75
and 4.25 strength. The 4.25 was too
stiff for my setup (an ancient Vandoren
3V mouthpiece), so it will be returned.
The 3.75 plays with about the same
resistance as some of my Vandoren 3.5
V-12's. It's a good reed, but not a
great one. No better than the Fibercell
reed that sits in my case for
emergencies. The sound in the low
register was a bit fuzzy compared with
the clearer, more focused sound of the
Vandoren cane reed. It tongues as well
as the Vandoren. And looks better on
the clarinet: it is colorless and
translucent.
