I think that one of the problems remains that most players have the problem
that other materials don't sound (or feel?) like wood, as we are accustomed.
This has been a problem with the Greenline. I know many players who are
reluctant to use it for this reason.

With the scarcity of good wood in the future it seems that another
alternative will be necessary. I do agree that exploration is needed into
various materials. I sometimes wonder if it is not a problem that other
materials do not sound as good, but that it sounds (feels) different. It may
require players to accept another sound, much as players had to do in the
change from baroque to modern instruments or the change from other fingering
systems to the Boehm.
