Andy has expressed a problem with his reeds' becoming dirty. You can soak
your reeds overnight in hydrogen peroxide. Be sure to rinse the reeds VERY
well the next morning.

I have tried this method on occasion and all manner of gunk comes out of the
reeds and rises to the surface of the hydrogen peroxide solution. As you
probably know, H2O2 is also a good disinfectant. However, be careful when you
use hydrogen peroxide; it's a fairly strong oxidizing agent. You don't want
to get it on your skin, your eyes, or your mouth!

A pharmacist friend cleans/disinfects his reeds by soaking them in a
commercial mouthwash.
