Subj: [kl] should I soak reeds in water
Date: Mon, 5 Apr 1999 13:11:13 -0400

with all of this tlk on whether or not to soak reeds in water I have a
question. I read David Pino's book on clarinet playing, and when I tried what
he suggested with reeds, ( the soaking and sanding) I found that by the time
I had finished the pores of the reed already had a considerable amount of
dirt in them. Same thing happens normally actually, my reeds seem to get
dirty very fast. I keep them in a reedguard and I sand the back and close the
pores with a sheet of typing paper, is there anything that I meight be doing
that could cause this. I'd really like to get my reeds to last a little
longer. Thank you

Andy
