I noticed that too, on my much-despised Bundy, no less. I have adjusted the
register key for a very minimum opening in an effort to get the higher
registers to speak more easily (which it does, by the way). I thought it
would give me fits on the throat Bb, but like yours, it doesn't. The
register key hole is probably proportionately larger on the Eb than on the
Bb horn, which is to say, they seem about the same actual size, and maybe
this is the reason.

On tuning - after some time with it, there are only two regions that are
really bad. In the lower register, C and C# are very sharp, and I have to
relax like mad to get them on tune, with the result that they sound awful.
And the C at the top of the clarion register is rather sharp, and benefits
from opening the side Eb/Bb key. But I gather this is nothing unusual with
the Efers. And above that the fingerings are very idiosyncratic, which I
understand from this list is also normal.
