I don't believe this discussion started with anything about a
"performer's sound", rather, if the material a clarinet is constructed
out of affects the sound of a clarinet. Rather a different purpose.
Which is why I say you have obfuscated the original intent. If, however,
you wish to pursue that line, possibly a clarification of what you
intended to discuss would have been in order.

You feel that was an attack? I don't think so. You seem to feel that
you're the only one out here who can throw topics off-course and not
have any response. If you wish to not respond to my postings, that's
fine. But they are not an attack. We ask people _all the time_ on this
list to stay on-topic, and _most_ people don't feel they're being
stepped on when they get a post saying that they should keep on-topic.
Many don't respond at all ... their prerogative.

I most certainly will not duck out of your way ...
