Just a quick, perhaps unnecessary, defense relating to Tony's
misinterpretation of my post. The purpose of the post was not in any way a
request to keep to safe topics. Frankly, it is the "deep waters" that I am
interested in and learn from. But when a discussion strays from enlightened
debate to personal argument, we all lose. It was not the topic but the way
it began to be presented that caused me to call for peace. I have seen too
many interesting debates descend to name calling etc., essentially putting
an end to further progress.

Now perhaps I was oversensitive, and read feelings into the posts that were
not there (although I don't think so). If this is the case, I apologize. I
don't expect everyone to make nice nice with each other, but I do feel that
respect and good manners should be shown to all, even if what is said is
total Ca Ca in your opinion (good natured ribbing exempted of course). It
was a discussion in a calm, non-argumentative fashion that I was trying
implement, actually.

Now the idea of music as an form of communication , an expressive language
if you will, is a very interesting and complex one, on which I have a few
thoughts of my own. If time permits, I will post them; unfortunately, my
patients seem to all feel a need to page me today (hence the rather rushed
and poor quality of my last post).

Happy holidays all,

I would like to open up these ideas to discussion as I feel that this forum
is one in which many of the ideas that Tony has brought up should be
discussed. These are difficult issues that require considerable more
thought and attention than many of the other postings on this listserv......

I feel that a meek return to the shallows undermines the creative thinking
that could be available through this forum. This is the place that
philosophical things should be discussed without judgment and without
offense....
