Hey support group - I just got my first hate mail! Last weekend I
produced and directed a community choir and orchestra in an Easter
Cantata. The entire ensemble worked hard and performed earnestly and
joyfully with a musicianship much improved and lauded by local
professionals. Folks raved. The community turned out to fill the
church. It's a magnificent experience. (When I'm not directing, I play
or sing in this annual event.) Well, today I got a letter that ripped my
face off - saying I didn't "help" the choir - but that "they came through
with flying colors" in spite of my "rank indifference" - "ONCE AGAIN!",
the orchestra was too loud, ad nauseam. It was signed "A very
disappointed concert goer". Well, guess what - that WASN'T a concert -
it was worship! And who do they think rehearsed 4 and 5 days a week for
10 weeks with large groups, small ensembles, soloists, instrumentalists,
substitute accompanist etc. You betcher booties I did! I wonder what
*inspired* this individual to get a piece of pretty notepaper, write a
vituperative, UNSIGNED note and mail it. I've never considered myself a
celebrity but now I guess I am - heard that nasty letters was a criteria
for celebs.
Please don't feel like you have respond to this letter. I just feel
better knowing some people are reading it.

So who WAS going to be the conductor of that group? I would start looking
at that person, and affiliates. Sounds like a sore looser.
