An explanation to the list:

Every person has the right to decide when to leave a conversation with
another person - and it is no one's right to expect the conversation to
continue. I chose to leave a conversation because I believed (and still
do) that the person arguing had a different agenda than what he was
presenting in terms of his verbage. Once I determined for myself that the
conversation was really about this person's ego (and given the person's
past postings, I cannot be persuaded to believe otherwise), it became
pointless for me to continue. This is not contrary to what a listserv is
about - a listserv is for the free exchange of ideas and information.
However, people may misuse a listserv as well - and my opinion is that the
conversation I was engaged in was generating information from another
person that I felt was not only inaccurate with regard to children and
music education in general, but that the posts were becoming more personal
in nature. Given the history of the other person (see November 30 1998
archives) to resort to name callings, I decided to leave the conversation.

My hope is that we may continue on without further discussion about who
did what to whom and why............that does no one any good.

My discussions regarding music learning, music expression, and the ability
to express through performance is based on my personal education in the
Ph.D. program at U. Michigan as well as undergraduate and graduate
experiences in Music Education at the same school, personal musical
experiences, and 18 years of teaching of young children (beginners
through adults) that continues today. The information I posted is not
inaccurate in any way. I simply choose not to discuss it with people who
have a different agenda than to discuss reasonably.

I hope this sheds some light on my last posting to the list.

May you all enjoy your holiday weekend as much as I know I will! Cornish
Game Hens on the grill.........!
