I kind of thought someone out there would respond this way! I did try the
Leblancs for quite some time, with different equiptment and reeds, barrells
etc. I played for several former teachers-from Cleve orch, Natl Symph, the
response I got all around was that of the lack of CHANGE of color that I
missed on the LeBLanc, that I DID get on the BUffet for years. I was really
sold on them for a while, they do sound beautiful, no doubt, but when I
switched back to the Buffet I felt as though I really had missed it, the way
it sounded in a large hall, they way it could really hold up when pushed to
it's limits. I don't look down on the LeBalnc, many FINE players do play
them, they just aren't for me, there is nothing wrong in saying that. And on
a more practical matters, I was "snubbed" MANY times showing up to a job,
audition or whatever when I pulled out that LeBLanc, that I felt was silly.
This is a HOTTTTT topic, not taken lightly, but CANT WE ALL JUST GET
ALONG!!!:) CA
