The answer seems kind of obvious, although not necessarily conclusive.
If the only thing you changed was the reeds, and you suddenly find your-
self chirping, you've obviously turned into a bird. Er, um. I mean,
the cause of the chirping must be the reeds. If you saved any of your
3.5's, slap one of those on the mouthpiece and see if you still chirp.
If not, then you've found the culprit. You might have gotten a bad
box of V12's, or...since they're stiffer, you might need to develop
slightly greater embouchure and air support in order to allow the
reed to vibrate. If you pinch it off in an effort to get a tone,
you'll get chirps. Why did you "upgrade" to V12 4's in the first
place?
