Hello everyone. Perhaps you remember me from the previous conversations
about the Marines, and the questions about Schools and Faculties. I would
like to say that I have been accepted to Michigan State University as a
Clarinet performance major, so the Marines have defiantly moved out of my
list of options.
The real point of this message is regarding the purchasing new Clarinets.
I plan on purchasing a new A clarinet, and possibly a new Bb this week. I
am not so much concerned with the brands or models, but I am concerned about
a few other things. The single most important question is, what is the best
way to go about play testing new instruments? What type of procedure should
I follow, and what should I look for (besides intonation). Also, should I
consider re-padding the top joint in Cork, or should I have any other
adjustments or modifications made to the instrument before I take it home?
What about a break-in process? Also, if you have any other suggestions on
this whole issue, please add your opinion or feedback. Thanks in advance.
