Does anybody make their own reeds? I have an oboe background, and oboists
pride themselves on making their own reeds. While I have seen some books that
discuss the shaping and scraping of clarinet reeds, I wonder how many
clarinetists actually do this.

I made my own reeds for years. Why bother now though, when Guy Legere makes
such great synthetic reeds?????
