Subj: [kl] bass clarinet cases

i am traveling to Hawaii with my band over spring break in April, and I double
on clarinet and bass clarinet. My bass clarinet is very expensive and i do
not have insurance for it. Unfortunately, it is too big to take on the plane
as a carry-on. ive heard some awful horror stories about airlines handling
instruments as luggage, with throwing them around and such. unless i can find
someway to take it on the plane myself, i need to make sure that i can pack it
securely for check-in luggage. I was wondering what types of cases are
available for 5-section bass clarinets that are heavy-duty and can stand
airline travel. Can any of you give me some suggestions? the only ones ive
heard are good are the BAM trekking cases plus they have backpack straps and a
shoulder strap. great bonus!
