Hi all,

I enjoy Mr. Shifrin's musiciality and sensitivity. I will tell you
want I dont enjoy about his playing is the fact that his sound is getting
spreadier and spreadier the older he gets. What I dont understand are the
comments about how Mr. Niedich says something. Just because you he is saying
something doesnt mean we want to hear it. I find that Mr. Niedich is only
interested is seeing how fast he can play a piece instead of making music.
And that his famous swelling on notes makes me sea sick. I think Mr. Niedich
is an amazing player but i would never want to hear him play Brahms. Now on
the other hand I totally agree that Karl Liester can sound very boring.
However, he is a wonderful example of how to play the clarinet. Beautiful
warm sound that has core. Even technique and wonderful intonation. And
finally a player that doesnt sound like butter(spreads easily) I hear Mr.
Liester play last year with Mr. Shifrin. It was amazing. And he plays a lot
differnet live. I ended up mini disking it. : ) I couldnt believe how
much Liester was phrasing and emoting. I was blown away. I hope all of you
get a chance to hear him play live. I have no idea why he records the way
he does. SO stiff. Not that way live at all.
