Mouthpieces can indeed make a huge difference. I had purchased a Selmer
Bundy Eb clarinet at a pawn shop. When I played with the original Bundy 3
mouthpiece, I had to pull out both the mouthpiece and the barrel
substantially to bring it into tune. Then I purchased a Vandoren 5RV and
voila! it was in tune without pulling.
