Well said!!!!
There are far too many *musicians* out there who have the recording equipment,
have technical profeciency, and make CD after CD.....Not to say that Shifrin
is a poor performer, but there are plenty of others who truly tell stories
with their music......take risks with interpretations.......show us new and
inventive ways to perform Mozart, Brahms and Weber, to name standards.
Neidich is a good example....his daring interps of Rossini and Weber have
braved new musical ground......Shifrin is
safe..methodical...conservative...but, if we are going to learn from musical
history, there has to be Marcellus' Mozart and there has to be a Stoltzman and
God love everyone in between!!! We may not care for interpretations of works,
but they are there, and they should be appreciated if not liked. Why have 15
Weber 1's that are all the same....? My computer can do that.
