Hello. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ryan Huch. I am
from Greenville, Michigan, about 30 miles north of Grand Rapids. I take
lessons from an awesome clarinetist out of the Grand Rapids area (Principle
of the Grand Rapids Symphony). I have been a relatively "silent" member of
this list for the last month or so, and have really enjoyed many of the
conversations that I have come across.
I have a question regarding further education in Clarinet performance.
Basically, I would like to know which school has the best Clarinet faculty.
The school need not be in the United States. While I am probably not good
enough to attend some of these schools, it's something to know and dream
about. I know this is as much a matter of opinion as it is a matter of
fact, but I would really like to hear what people have to say on this topic.
I am strongly considering the Marines Corps, as they will give me a chance
to really get some playing experience and to improve as a musician. After
my commitment to the Marines, one of these schools may not be such a far
fetched goal. Thanks in advance for any suggestions (including a "you're a
crazy kid, especially for joining the Marines") will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan Huch
