How can you use the K&M stand WITHOUT a floor peg? It would scratch up the
bell otherwise.

Jonathan,
If weight is not an object, the Blayman stand is the one to buy.
Or you could have someone make something similar with some steel and a
welding torch. The K&M (actually it's a Bassoon stand) that I have is
awkward - especially if you use a floor peg. I use it only if I have time
to put the Bass down. Otherwise on a quick change I just hold the Bass
between my legs leaning on me while I play soprano.
