I would like to see the same sort of copying allowed for software
-you are allowed to make one copy for archival or backup purposes.
Then a lot of these problems wrt to copyright infringement would
simply not exist. I am studying some duets in a book - there is no
way you could play these arrangements for a performance without
copying pages to put on your stand or memorizing the whole book
which I am not about to do. Publishers have got to be more
responsive to the needs of musicians other wise "illegal" copies will
continue to exist. One publisher a number of years ago allowed
copying for the page turn problem but I can't find the posting.
