The first time in the pit with Peter Smith, (NAC-Canada)
I was impressed with his low cost made home made
bass clarinet stand and made one myself.

Take a cheap collapsible wire music stand, bottom tripod
only, no rack. Get a piece of wire clothes hanger, cut
to the appropriate length, purchase a piece of narrow rubber
tubing to cover the wire, protecting the horn. stick
the wire in the top of the stand and bend into the appropriate shape
to hook the bass. The wide tripod is very stable, sits at a 45 degree
angle right at your feet requiring very min. motion bringing it to you.
If its good enough for the NAC... it works for me.
Cost me a $3 garage sale stand. With my new bass also I put
some rubber tubing on the stand post where the bass might
touch the side of the stand to insure no scratches.
