Lauren,

I'm quite fond of my Hite D. It has a great tone and right-on intonation.
It likes Vandoren 3's or Mictchell Lurie 3.5's. Hite makes a student model
that is very reasonably priced. Hite has a useful website:
www.jdhite.com.

In auditioning mouthpieces I've found that "good reeds" that have become
accustomed to a particular mouthpiece will often be complete duds on
another. One almost has to start reeds from scratch with each new
mouthpiece. Auditioning is a slow, complicated process.

Good luck,
Ed Maurey
