Lauren-

Although I don't have any suggestions on a mouthpiece that can lower your
pitch, I do have a few mouthpieces that may work for you. Before I
suggest anything, let me say this: I don't think anyone should say "this
is the best mouthpiece, and I think everyone should use these," simply
because everyone is different- their oral cavities, teeth, etc, which all
make a huge difference in selecting a mouthpiece which is right for them
(as well as what kind of reeds they use, clarinet, etc). A mouthpiece
that works very well for one person may not for another.
Anyway, when I began taking lessons, my teacher had me playing on a
Pomarico crystal mouthpiece. It had a very dark tone, and I was very
pleased with it....until I dropped it. I played on a Gigliotti for
awhile, and was very pleased with that as well. Last year, however, my
teacher switched me to a Gennusa. I LOVE my Gennusa mouthpiece, despite
the tuning troubles I had with it at first. I would rather have my whole
clarinet burn into a pile of ashes than have something happen to that
mouthpiece. Anyway, those are a few you might want to try.
Another suggestion that I have regarding mouthpieces is this- try A LOT
!!! Even of the same kind- I think that I have tried around 10-20
Gennusa mouthpieces in the past few years, and the one I have now is one
of the few I liked, but it is a gem to say the least. Best wishes
mouthpiece hunting!
