Oliver, I'm not aware of a group you might jam with during your Irish vacation
but I suspect the proprietors of the B&Bs in which you stay will be more than
accommodating. The Irish people are among the most hospitable in the world.
Your hosts might know of a group with which you can play, even if just for an
evening at the pub. Or they might invite you to entertain their own guests
during the evening in the B&Bs "parlor." Maybe you'll join a group of buskers
on Grafton Street in Dublin. Now wouldn't that be fun?

If this is your first trip to the Emerald Isle, you will quickly know why the
well-known song "A Little Bit of Heaven" is so named. By the way, there are
fine music shops in Killarney and Galway City. You will find sheet music books
published in Ireland featuring the old airs, jigs, and reels. These kinds of
publications are not always easily found here in the U.S.

While Ireland is often called the Land of Saints and Scholars, you will
discover for yourself that music runs very deeply through the Irish soul. I
know that I will be bringing my clarinet the next time I visit the Old Sod.

Green with envy as I think about your trip...

Cindy
