Yes, there are lots of standards, and that's just the problem.
There may be almost as many standard note nomenclatures as there
are standard pitches! Thus Dee Hays' suggestion:

makes a lot of sense. Describing the position on the staff (top
space e; 2 ledger altissimo D; 6 ledger altissimo D etc.) will
help clarify things since registers cover more than an octave.
Most clarinets are transposing instuments but we almost always
read the treble clef in a standard way.
