MISSING (and found) BASSOON

This appeared in this morning's paper.
In 1956 a prized bassoon was stolen from the car of a young English
musician in Germany.
The 1930 vintage Heckel bassoon has resurfaced in a US school band and
will be returned to its owner William Waterhouse.
As a courtesy to musicians and its members, the International Double
Reed Society publishes a running list of stolen oboes and bassoons. In
its journal, Mr.Waterhouses's stolen Heckel had found what seemed to
be a permanent home on top of the list.
The instrument's serial number was identified while it was being
repaired
William Waterhouse is the current editor of "An Index Of Musical
Wind-Instrument Makers"
