but there are just too few sax jobs.

Does the young man *want* to play saxophone?? What the "world needs" ought
to be less important than what *he* needs. What the "world does with" him
ought to be less important than how he hopes to fit into the world.

We shouldn't forget that playing an instrument ultimately should benefit
the player. Just because he doesn't land a "job" doesn't mean he won't
benefit from playing beautifully.
