If you have the thumbrest higher, won't it mean stretching your right hand
even more?
I suspect that manufacturers aren't particularly careful about where they
put thumbrests. A previous owner had clearly moved the rest on my B flat
(and bodged it up) - it's in just the right position now,
fortunately - and the
rest on my A (purchased new) is definitely slightly too high. It should be
in a position such that the instrument balances on the thumb - shouldn't
it? I don't see why the size of your hand should make any difference,
except that you might suffer worse with small hands if the rest is in the
wrong place.
