The last time I saw them, the clarichord was
elastic, which gives ample support for most people, but may not be what
you need. I broke my wrist at one point, and discovered it worked well
to have a ring soldered on to the thumbrest for a sax neckstrap. If you
don't want a ring as a permanent fixture on your instrument, buy another
thumbrest when you feel that you no longer need one. I actually like
using a neckstrap, as it helps to keep my hands relaxed.
